Past Work
During his 11-year tenure as President of The Mills/A Simon Company, Gregg Goodman oversaw the development, leasing, property management, marketing and business development activities of a number of high profile properties. Here are just a few:
SAWGRASS MILLS
Sawgrass Mills has the largest EBITDA of any single retail project in the continental United States. It is the second largest tourist attraction in the state of Florida behind only Disney World with an annual visitor count of over 45,000,000 people from around the world (106 countries at last count). During Gregg’s tenure as President, both EBITDA and gross annual sales tripled as he led four separate expansions of the property.
OPRY MILLS
The catastrophic Nashville flood of 2010 virtually destroyed Opry Mills, with 10 feet of water accumulated in the building at the high point. The property had to be stripped down to the superstructure, only roof, exterior walls, columns, and concrete remained. Gregg led the rebuilding, releasing, and reopening of the project which was the largest casualty in the history of the mall industry. The project reopened in 2012 to great acclaim, with significantly higher sales than before the flood.
GRAPEVINE MILLS
Grapevine Mills has become one of the most innovative and successful hybrid retail/entertainment projects in the US. Home to Merlin’s most successful Legoland Discovery Center/Sea Life Aquarium cluster in the country, he added a number of other location based entertainment concepts to the project such as Peppa Pig, Round One, Fieldhouse USA, AMC Dine In Theaters and Rainforest Cafe. This mix of traditional retail, outlets and entertainment has been recognized as a model case for the future of bricks and mortar retail by the likes of the New York Times among others.
